4. Ralph BASFORD. Born on 2 Aug 1832 in Wybunbury, Cheshire, England.3 Ralph was baptized in Norton In Hales, Shropshire, England, on 18 Sep 1831.1 Ralph died in Lanark, Portage Co., WI, on 20 May 1922.12,3 Buried in Badger Cemetery, Lanark Twp., Portage Co., WI.13,14

He is probably the Ralph Bassford, bp. 18 Sep 1831, Norton In Hales, Shropshire, England, the son of John and Sarah Bassford.1 John and Sarah had also a son Joseph, bp. 19 Sep 1830.1 This is consistent with undocumented information given elsewhere which shows the parents of Ralph being John and Sarah (Glover) Basford. This source shows Ralph being born 2 Aug 1832, Wybunbury, Cheshire, England.3 The year would seem to be off by a year, huwever, Wybunbury is only about 10 miles from Norton In Hales, so the difference in location is not necessarily inconsistent. Perhaps John and Sarah lived in Wybunbury, but their church was in Norton In Hales?

Ralph’s death certificate confirms that he was the son of John and Sarah Basford.15

Living in the same town there was a Ralph and Hannah Bassford who had children Mary, bp. 23 Jul 1809; John, bp. 9 Feb 1817; Charles, bp. 31 Oct 1819; and Anne, bp. 3 Feb 1822.1 Probably they would be close relatives of John. (This would probably be the same Ralph Bassford who married Hannah Money on 10 Apr 1809, Stoke Upon Trent, Stafford, England.1
