[419] gives two entries for her marriage to Thomas J. Basford. In one her name is given as Elsie L. Manes, and in the other it is given as Elsie L. Masters. Presumably one would be her maiden name, and one would be the name of a previous husband.

He fourth married Anna F. (BASFORD) ? . Born abt 1887 in Box Butte Co., NE. [418] Anna F. died in Auburn, CA, on 18 Oct 1973. [418] Grass Valley Hospital.

Her obituary gives her name as Anna Brokaw, “known as Anna Ballieu Basford.” [418] It is not clear if Brokaw is her maiden name, or the name of another husband. It appears that Ballieu must be the name of a first husband since she was survived by a son Charles Ballieu.
