Will dated 31 Aug 1912, filed 15 Jan 1930 and proved 1 Mar 1930, mentions wife Susan Jones Basford, and children Ethel Basford Patterson, Bertha Basford Thompson, Daisy Lena Reid, Albert Basford and Hazel Basford. His wife was named as executrix. [205]

There is a question as to the exact dat of Isaac’s birth. He was a minor at the time of his father’s will in 1857, indicating that he was born after 1836. The 1850 Frederick Co., MD census gives his age as 8, indicating that he was born abt 1842. This is consistent with the 1860 Frederick Co., MD census which gives his age as 18. The 1880 Sangamon Co., IL census gives his age as 39, indicating that he was born abt 1841. The 1900, 1910 and 1920 Sangamon Co., IL censuses give his age as 63, 74 and 85, indicating that he was born abt 1837, 1836 and 1835, respectively. His death certificate gives his age at death as 98 years 6 months 12 days, which would correspond to a birth date of 18 Jun 1831. The History of Sangamon Co., IL gives his birth date as 18 Jun 1835. [199] Presumably the 18 Jun day is correct, and the birth year implied by the earlier census entries are the most likely to be accurate.

[199] gives the name of his mother as Mary. It also indicates that his father John was a physician and that he died at the age of 98. This would seem to be inconsistent with information given elsewhere which gives his profession as a manufacturer, and indicates that he died at age 57.

(The 1832 birthdate for Isaac would seem to be inconsistent with his age in the census records which would put his birthdate about 1842.)
