His four children and his father died in a tragic fire on 1 Mar 1927. The fire was apparently started by an overheated wood stove. Samuel and his wife were badly burned trying to rescue their children. She died the next day. The newspaper article describing the tragedy indicated that the family had moved to Hibbing from Brainerd five years earlier. [1820]
