He is probably the Charles Basford who was stabbed by Peter Thomas at Ravenwood, MO on 15 Sep 1899. [1055] The fight was the result a result of an old family feud. Reportedly, Charles Basford accused Thomas of having circulated a report that Basford’s mother had stolen chickens. Thy came to blows in a blacksmith shop. The Kansas City Journal reported that the stabbing was fatal, but apparently they had their facts wrong. [2119]
