She is probably the Mrs. H. R. Bassford who was in Los Angeles on 15 Jul 1897 in an effort to obtain custody of her daughter, Dorothy Edith Creede, apparently after the death of Dorothy’s father. [1931] This would be the same Dorothy that is living with the Bassford family in the 1900 census. Presumably, Edith was first married to a Mr. Creede whom she divorced before marrying Harold Bassford.
